Perfection in a President?

Maybe we have it all wrong, and ideals are more important for our leaders than morals.

OK. It’s time for some reflection. The impeachment trial is
over. Clinton got away with it.

##The Founding Fathers

The genius of the founding fathers of the United States was in
the words they used.

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all
men are created equal and they endowed by the creator with the inalienable
rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Those are some amazing words!

From the AT&T Pro-Am:

What Do You Say To The Others?

If we don’t convict President Clinton, how can we look the others in the face.

We are supposed to be living in a country in which no one is
above the law. I spent the day today watching the impeachment trial of
President Clinton, and I was appalled by what I heard. Although I have a
serious problem with the President, his actions, and obstructions, what
really bothered me was hearing senators claim that although it’s clear that
Clinton committed perjury and obstruction of justice, nevertheless he
shouldn’t be convicted.

##What about the doctor

One of the things that the House managers brought up was the case of a
doctor (I forget her name) that was convicted of perjury in a case with
many details in common with the case against the President:

  • She lied about sex in a civil trial to protect her reputation and

    job.

  • She was prosecuted and found guilty of perjury
  • She lost her job, and was placed under house arrest for 6 months

So the question becomes, how can we as a society look her in the face and
with a clear conscience acquit the President of nearly identical charges.

What a day!

I’ve been avoiding the whole impeachment trial

since it started. But today I decided to watch

the videotaped depositions and trial proceedings.

Both sides did a credible job. It comes down to

who you believe. Personally, I believe Ms. Lewinsky.

Good quote: “Where I come from, if you call someone at 2:30 in the morning,

you’re up to no good.” — Representative Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina

I have to say that the house managers had me until the very end.

Their emotional appeal went over like a lead balloon. When they stuck to

the facts of the case, and the implications thereof, I felt the case was

made.
