The First 10 Trek Movies

From SCI FI Wire:

The 10 Star Trek movies so far, and why they mattered: As J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek beams into theaters on May 8, it seems like a good time to look back at the 10 movies that have previously gone where no one has gone before.

It’s been 10 films and 30 years since Star Trek was reborn on the big screen. The full list follows.

This is a fun read. Although I completely disagree with the assessment of **Star Trek: First Contact** which I still think is the best of the bunch. It definitely holds up the best.

Khan is Dead!

From SCI FI Wire:

Wrath of Khan’s Ricardo Montalban is dead at 88:

Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became famous as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s Fantasy Island and secured his place in the sci-fi hall of fame as the title character in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, died Wednesday morning at his home, a Los Angeles city councilman told the Associated Press. He was 88.

This is a shame, but it has to happen to us all at some point. I was a huge fan of *Fantasy Island” (until it jumped the shark), and have always felt that ”The Wrath of Khan” is in the top two ”Star Trek” films (so far). He was great in ”Spy Kids 2” and ”The Naked Gun*. Looking at his [page](http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0001544/) at the [IMDB](http://us.imdb.com), he had a longer, and much busier career than I knew.
