[Is Marsalis the man](http://www.phillynews.com/inquirer/99/May/23/arts*and*entertainment/MARS23.htm)
when it comes to Jazz these days?
To think jazz is to think Wynton Marsalis. The ubiquitous one has
released his first of nine projects for ’99. But is the traditionalist artist
and educator denying jazz its essential feistiness?

[blame it on panache](http://www.golfweb.com/u/ce/multi/0,1329,1191249_85,00.html.)
I’d say we should blame his loss of the British Open on
stupidity instead.

July 1999 Trip Report

We’re off to Montreal for the Jazz Festival

##Thursday 7/1: On the road

We got a good night’s sleep and woke up a little late. It was a busy
morning as we had to take our pets to friends houses and get a few other
things done before we hit the road.

It’s such a beautiful drive up through New Hampshire and Vermont on the
way to the Canadian border.

Arrival at Debbie and Steves. They’re in their new home now. There’s a lot
more room.

##Friday 7/2: Bittle’s Rib

Swimming at Marcel and Karens

Dinner at Bittle’s Rib. Saw the Paradise Jazz Quarted. Sax player played a
Selmer Super Action 80 with a Laughton mouthipiece. What a player. I bet
he’s been playing for 40 years!!!!

Jazz Festival. 13 year old boy on the Trombone! What an awesome player!
