Balin digs to the core!

This is really good news!

Here is the important thing: The Story is not changed. It is not exactly the

same, but it is the same story. That has in no way been lost, or weakened or

polluted. I have finally arrived at a way of describing the difference between

the book and the film: Imagine the book as a valuable weaving. Take the exact

fabric and re weave it…tighter. Snip off a few barely noticeable threads,

move a little of the fiber around to strengthen the integrity of the whole,

and you have the same weaving…sturdier, renewed, ready for new use, but the

same…Thats the key here. As a result, once the script is streamlined like this, it

MOVES. Tolkien’s prose, as much as we love it, is a little leisurely, but with

just a little tuneup, connecting the same existing material in slightly

different ways, you travel the same ground in breathless, headlong fashion.

Fellowship put in perspective

James Birrell is 8 and only has a couple of weeks to live.

He’s seen Fellowship of the Ring as one of his final wishes, and says he identifies most with Frodo because with the help of friends, Frodo fights to avoid being corrupted by the power of the ring, much like James and his supporters have struggled with his disease.

James… our thoughts are prayers are with you.

CHUD Chimes In

Fellowship gets a 9.6 out of 10!!!!

Hype isn’t so bad, as long as you deliver and The Fellowship of the Rings delivers like FedEx and UPS only dream of….This really is an epic, one that combines all the ingredients to create something rich and memorable that’ll endure for generations as The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, and so many of Disney’s films have….The Fellowship of the Rings is a classic. It’s easily the best film in two years, and after a couple of viewings with a nice big crowd may just eke its way right along films with the names “Raiders” and “Empire” in the title.

The Daily Mirror’s Review

A review even Galadriel would love!

To all those people who have been turned off by the prospect of Tolkien, viewing his tales as simply wierd stuff about trolls and elves, I say: Do go and see this film. Its is gritty and scary in a down to earth yet mystical way that makes you feel like there is a little bit of hobbit in everyone…The Fellowship of the Ring will prove irresistable. It is a hugely satisfying watch and a chance for a little escapism for a few hours. I cannot wait to see the next two films and get another helping of that magical Middle-Earth.

The Contender

A woman Senator is asked by the President to become Vice President and must defend herself in front of the confirmation panel.

##What’s a President to do?

President Jackson Evans has a problem. His Vice President has died and he needs to fill the office. Lucky for him, Governor Jack Hathaway has just become a national hero by attempting to save a woman from drowning in a car accident and is a lock for the Vice Presidency if he’s nominated.

The real problem, however, is that he has no real legacy. He’s in the 6 1/2th year of his presidency and he hasn’t done much. He doesn’t want to fill the job with just anybody. Knowing that whoever gets the job will likely be the next President of the United States, he decides to do something bold: Nominate a woman for the job.

[[contender_poster]]
Senator Laine Hanson seems perfect for the part. She’s smart, dedicated, well liked, and has served on committees such as foreign relations. After letting the Governor down easy, he lets Laine know that she’s got the nomination. All she needs to do is get by the hearings and she’s the next Vice President.

There’s a problem, however. The person running the hearings is one Representative Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Runyon who has it in for Senator Hanson. He feels her to be unqualified and also considers her a traitor because she switched parties from Republican to Democrat. He’s decided, she won’t be Vice President, and he’ll stop at nothing to ensure that she goes down in flames.

It’s been quite a while since I watched a movie that kept me riveted to my seat the whole time.

##The Wheels Fall Off

Runyon starts an investigation which eventually turns up witnesses and photographs of Hanson participating in group sex while in college. He decides to use this as the cornerstone of his campaign against her.
