I think that the official got it right according to the rule, but at the same time, I think that the rule needs to be changed.

Patriots Have a Miracle on Ice!
All I can say is WOW!
This was absolutely one of the best games I’ve ever watched. To be honest, I think that strictly according to the rule, the referee made the right call. But, I think that the rule is wrong. Any right thinking person that knows anything about football would call what happened with Tom Brady a fumble.
What do you think? [[Was the forward pass ruling correct in the Patriots/Raiders divisional playoff game Saturday night?]]
But I’m glad that the ref saw it the way that he did.
The folks on the west coast have a different opinion though:
- **Ray Rotto, San Francisco Chronicle**: [Conspiracy theorists have a fresh cause](http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2002/01/20/SP233151.DTL…In) New England, where a sporting event isn’t a sporting event unless it can be directly linked to some earlier example of heartbreak, Adam Vinatieri avenged the restless spirit of Sugar Bear Hamilton, more than a quarter-century later….In Oakland, however, a fine old tradition was renewed here last night — another example of the direct link between an official’s decision and the interests of Satan.
- **Skip Bayles, San Jose Mercury News**: [They Was Robbed](http://www0.mercurycenter.com/sports/top/bayless20.htm…) New Englands’ 16-13 overtime win turned into the biggest teal in New England since John Havlicek’s. This was like Rosie Ruiz’s corner-cutting Boston Marathon victory being allowed to stand. This was nearly as big a rip-off as the Yankees acquiring Babe Ruth from the Red Sox.
- **Ann Killion, San Jose Mercury News**: [Patriots win on a controversial call](http://www0.mercurycenter.com/columnists/killion/docs/killion20.htm…fitting) for a Patriots-Raters game. Whenever the teams meet, it ends in controversy, a travesty in someone’s opinion. The Patriots and their fans surely believe in karma today, in justice delayed 25 years. The Raiders beat the Patriots on their way to the Super Bowl in the 1976 season, thanks to a controversial roughing the passer call.
Great Review of Fellowship
This review is the most in depth analysis of the movie I’ve seen.

Lord Rules over Luke
This is a response to the previous Salon article trashing Fellowship as compared to Star Wars.
This guy seems to get it right… and the article is a howl too! For instance:
Twenty years later, I find my mind has wandered back to Cloud City; same bridge, same pit. Again, I imagine myself as Luke, only now it’s George Lucas wearing the heavy-breathing Darth mask, standing over my head. And he’s reaching out to me, holding some crappy “Pod Racing” video game, contemptuously chanting: “Who’s your daddy? Who’s your daddy?”…And so, like Luke, I decide to let go. I leap into the pit — but not to my doom, because I know there is a vent down there. And that vent’s name is Peter Jackson — director of “The Lord of the Rings.”
But the article is more than that. It delves into the monomyth as talked about by Joseph Campbell (a mythologist and consultant on Star Wars) and how both Frodo and Luke are prototypical heros.
This article is a must read.
The Year The Mac Makes a Comeback
The Modem Driver attended MacWord in SF and came out overjoyed at the possibilities.
Mad Max, as it should be seen.
One of the best action movies ever made finally makes its way to DVD.
The dubbed american soundtrack always bothered me. Perhaps this will fix it and make the movie even better.
Legend of the Rangers vs. Enterprise
With less of a budget, Legend serves up more substance.
Throughout Babylon 5’s existence, there have been comparisons made to the long-standing mainstay of sci-fi television, Star Trek, and this movie, which comes in the same TV season as the latest Trek series, Enterprise, will be no different. The bigger-budget Enterprise pilot may have looked more polished, but The Legend of the Rangers feels as if it has more substance; by comparison, it was the more exciting pilot of the two. Legend not only stands on its own, but lays the groundwork for future
Only a few more days until the premier of the new B5 movie! I can’t wait, and only hope that this review is on the money.
Myth’s Concerning Macs
Of course this is marketing from Apple.
But, there’s nothing that’s said here that isn’t true.
Just Try and Imagine!
Fellowship of the Ring in just 2 hours….
… You’re right. It’s just not possible. But it is hilarious!
