Apple Planning Intel iBook Debut for January?

[Slashdot](http://slashdot.org/:)

Apple is planning to release its first entry-level iBook laptops with Intel processors next January at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, highly reliable sources have confirmed to Think Secret…. Apple will almost certainly tap Intel’s forthcoming Yonah processor for the iBooks, a successor to the company’s Pentium M.

Wow! That’s coming a lot faster than I had expected.

Galactica Renewed For Season Three

[Sci Fi Wire](http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/:) “SCI FI Channel announced that it has renewed its original series Battlestar Galactica for a third season.”

Yeah! This has got to be the best show on television right now (at least here in the US). This is awesome news for us SF fans.

Darwin Was Right

[CNN.com](http://www.cnn.com/2005/EDUCATION/11/09/evolution.showdown.ap/index.html:)

Voters came down hard Tuesday on school board members who backed a statement on intelligent design being read in biology class, ousting eight Republicans and replacing them with Democrats who want the concept stripped from the science curriculum.

Survival of the fittest baby!

RIAA Goes After Satellite Radio

[Slashdot](http://slashdot.org/:)

nicholasjay writes ‘The RIAA is at it again. Now they don’t like satellite radio. From the article ‘The record industry … believes the recording capability [of satellite radio receivers] is a clear copyright violation and could take revenue away from paid download music services.’ This comes on the heels of both Sirius and XM announcing mp3 enabled players and the ability to record music heard on the radio. Also from the article: ‘RIAA may seek $1 billion plus in music rights fees for a new contract covering 2007 to 2012 to replace the current $80 million pact that expires in 2006.

The RIAA really needs to back off and embrace new technology. They’re going to lose this war.

Working Very Well for Them

[New Urban Legends](http://www.snopes.com/info/whatsnew.asp:) “Former first lady Barbara Bush said that New Orleans refugees being housed in the Houston Astrodome were ‘underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them.'”

This is **TRUE**! My God… I may have to rethink my affiliations. I’ve had several friends try and tell me for years the the Republican Party doesn’t give a damn about anybody but the wealthy… and apparently they were right. I’ve never registered as a Republican, but I’ve always believed the “smaller government, less spending, lower taxes, etc.” mantra that they’ve always spouted off on (and which they are clearly no longer believers, but rather just parrots of the party line). I can’t think of any reason to align myself with Republicans anymore.

This is truly horrifying.

I think the Libertarians will be getting my votes from now on [[:-)]].
