Linux Worm Creating Problems

Hopefully this will get dealt with soon!

The Linux Slapper worm had compromised more than 6,700 servers as of early Monday morning, and it continues to create a peer-to-peer attack network that could shut down even corporate Internet connections.

This worm sounds like a cross between Gnutella and the orignal worm. It creates a peer-to-peer network from which it launches attacks. Yikes! the bad guys are getting more ingenius all the time!

Why Wait So Long?

George Will opines that there’s no reason to delay an attack on Iraq

Sen. John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who aspires to be the 44th President, accuses the 43rd of “hasty war talk.” …
France and Britain chose not to enforce Germany’s obligations on March 7, 1936, when Hitler held his breath and remilitarized the Rhineland, in violation of the treaties of Versailles and Locarno. Calling the 48 hours after his three battalions entered the Rhineland “the most nerve-wracking” of his life, Hitler said: “If the French had marched into the Rhineland we would have had to withdraw with our tails between our legs.”

Can this possibly be true?

WebSideStory, Inc. RIAA and Swappers Seek End to Lawsuite

But both sides think they should win.

Both sides want to end the copyright infringement lawsuit against popular file-swapping services Kazaa, Morpheus and Grokster quickly–they just disagree on who should win.

I know who I think should win… if you’ve read [[Courtney Love’s Speech]] and [[Why The Recording Industry Sucks]], you should too.

If you’re a musician, you should definitely be on the side of the services, not the RIAA.

RIP OS9

Apple has annouced the end of its classic operating system.

Apple® today announced that starting in January 2003, all new Mac® models will only boot into Mac® OS X as the start-up operating system, though they will retain the ability to run most Mac OS 9 applications through Apple’s bundled “Classic” software.

It’s about time. OSX is so far superior to the Classic MacOS in so many ways that its hard to conceive of a sentence that can mention them both in the same breath (although, I just did [[:-)]]).
