The End is Near

US Forces are gaining complete control of Bagdad.

And in the process, making a lot of Iraqis quite happy.

US tanks drove unhindered into public squares on the eastern bank of the Tigris for the first time, including the area surrounding the Palestine hotel, where the international media are based.

As word spread, people began congregating in the al-Fardus square in front of the hotel.

The cheering crowd began trying to pull down a huge statue of Saddam Hussein with a rope and a sledgehammer. An American armoured personnel carrier is now lending assistance.

All is becoming right in the world again.

Masterful Rite of Spring

It’s that time of year again. Time for the Masters, the last rite of spring.

Maybe the weather gods will finally get it together and start to give us some spring-like weather. Although, it doesn’t look that way right now in Augusta.

The weather at Augusta National grabbed the spotlight on Tuesday. Rain poured on the course, and the soggy fairways and soft greens will present added challenges when the 67th Masters begins.

Sigh.
