What about the Bush doctrine?

From [Boston Globe — Jeff Jacoby columns](http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial*opinion/jeff*jacoby:)

REMEMBER George W. Bush? He was the president who warned in 2002 that Iran and North Korea were part of an “axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world.” On his watch, he vowed, the United States would “not permit the world’s most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world’s most destructive weapons.”

Yeah, what happened to him? I was with him when he spoke those works. I believed that we could make the world a better place. But, I was also afraid that we as a nation would not have the collective will to see this sort of sweeping policy all the way through to the end. Unfortunately, it turns out that my fears were well founded. Now, the only real option we seem to have is to minimize the damage that we have caused, and try and fix our reputation around the world.
