Here’s a completely different take on Fellowship.

Well, I’ve done it. I’ve divorced myself from ATT.

Almost anyway.

###What’s the problem?

If you read how [[ATT Is Screwing Me!]], you have an idea of how pissed off I am at these guys. I now have an inside source that verifies everything I said in that article. In short:

• They are changing the way that machines are named in their DNS database such that the name is no longer fixed
• They are shutting off access to various services from outside their network to machines inside their network making it impossible for people like me to run my website.

This is not what I signed up for when I started using their broadband service several years ago.

The only reason that I have anything to do with them anymore is that I need a fast connection to the internet and they are the only game in town. DSL is not an option, nor is ISDN or satellite broadband.

###The New CarneyWeb

So, I decided to host my email and website outside of ATT’s network completely.

I decided on http://www.primesource-hosting.com. Except for some outages which I expect to be taken care of soon, I am quite please with the services that I’m getting with them.

The players are getting younger and younger.

This interview is quite long and very detailed. It goes into a great deal of depth about how the movies got made, how the books were adapted, etc. This is a must read for any fan!

One release will be in August, and the other in November.

The release in August will be the theatrical version of the movie will few extras, while the one in November will be a multi-dvd set with 30 extra minutes of footage and many hours of extras.

The only question now is whether I’m going to buy both or not. I probably will 🙂

Can [[Tiger]] get back on track this week?

It’s been quite a while since [[Tiger]] has been able to win, though he’s been lurking. Will this be the week that he breaks back into the winner’s circle?

Update 10.1.3 delivers enhancements that improve the reliability of Mac OS X applications, important security features and includes new and updated support for a variety of Digital Hub peripheral devices.

Excellent!

They keep making an already great product better!

There’s a couple of little gotchas about the update though:

1. If you’ve modified the directory permissions to allow sendmail to work properly, you’ll have to do that again
2. If you’ve modified the kernel paramters to switch the control and caps-lock keys, you’ll have to do that again

Including Best Picture and Best Director!

It was nominated for a total of twelve, and lost for Cinematography, which I will never understand. But overall, a great day for Peter Jackson and company.
