Ian McKellen Sticks His Neck Out

Predicts Fellowship will win Best Picture.

Sir Ian McKellen is backing The Fellowship Of The Ring to win this

year’s Oscar for Best Picture.

He thinks it will win because Tolkien’s world is so popular amongst

Hollywood filmmakers.

The first Lord Of The Rings film has been nominated for 13 Oscars.

McKellen, who plays Gandalf in the movie trilogy, told Richard and

Judy: [[ ]]I’ll stick my neck out and say it’s going to win Best Picture.”

ATT Is Screwing Me!

The changeover to their new setup is going to screw me and a lot of other people.

##Why are they doing this?

I signed up for mediaone way back in its infancy. I was actually a beta tester for them when I used to live in California. The speed was wonderful, and having a computer on the net at all times was incredible.

I started running a web server on my old Macintosh for some static content, and have been running my own web server ever since.

But not anymore. They’ve decided that I shouldn’t be able to use my computer however I want to.

When I first signed up, the internet name of my computer was mikecarney.ne.mediaone.net. Then, they decided that they weren’t going to support *vanity* names anymore, but would use the mac address of the computer for the name, so it changed to h000a27d8bede.ne.mediaone.net. Well, that’s OK I guess. It’s kinda ugly, but it still works.

Now, as of March 15th, 2002, that name is going away never to be replaced. I’ll have no way of seeing my computer from the internet, so my website will no longer be accessible.

**THIS JUST SUCKS!**

When did ATT stop worrying about customer service? When did they start thinking it was OK to screw people at will?
