19 officers earned over $200,000 in ’04

[Boston Globe — Front Page](http://www.boston.com/news/globe/pageone:) “Nineteen Boston police officers made more than $200,000 in 2004, earning amounts far beyond their base salaries by working overtime or private-detail shifts, according to city payroll records and city officials.”

The real quest is, why is this seen as a bad thing? They put their lives on the line for us, and they deserve a decent living. As far as I’m concerned, we **can’t** pay the police or fire departments too much.
