Happy St. Patrick’s Day
From [Irish Blessings](http://www.luquette.org/inspire/irish_blessings.htm:)
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Meet the new Boss…
Well, it’s official. I’m now an employee of Shibasoku R&D. This feels like the good old days. A small group of smart people trying to change the way people think. It’s a lot of fun.

Thrashing Through Cyberspace: AOL Eavesdrops, Grants Itself Permission To Steal Your AIM Conversations
[Thrashing Through Cyberspace](http://benstanfield.com/thrash/2005/03/aol*eavesdrops*.html:)
“AOL has some new *Terms of Service* for those who use their AOL Instant Messaging servers, and it’s pretty crazy:
Although you or the owner of the Content retain ownership of all right, title and interest in Content that you post to any AIM Product, AOL owns all right, title and interest in any compilation, collective work or other derivative work created by AOL using or incorporating this Content. In addition, by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy. You waive any right to inspect or approve uses of the Content or to be compensated for any such uses.
…I never thought to be concerned that the company providing the service would share that information.”
Hear hear! Hey! AOL! Get a clue… you don’t own people’s conversations. The phone company doesn’t, and you don’t either. You provide the medium, not the content. We have to stop this nonsense!

19 officers earned over $200,000 in ’04
[Boston Globe — Front Page](http://www.boston.com/news/globe/pageone:) “Nineteen Boston police officers made more than $200,000 in 2004, earning amounts far beyond their base salaries by working overtime or private-detail shifts, according to city payroll records and city officials.”
The real quest is, why is this seen as a bad thing? They put their lives on the line for us, and they deserve a decent living. As far as I’m concerned, we **can’t** pay the police or fire departments too much.
