Sir Ian Talks Extended Cut

In his [[White Books]], [[Ian McKellen]] gives his impressions of the extended version of [[The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring]].

My impression was that this cut is superior to the previous one and that it is a pity that there are as yet no plans to show it in the cinema, where managers gulp at the thought of a three and a half hour movie, with no interval and thereby less-remunerative refreshment sales. But perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps it’s the greed of one already sated that makes this extra dish so appetising. At first sitting the original cut may be easier to digest. But this DVD is a must for the devotee.

Wow! I can’t wait to see this. I’ve already got mine on order over at [[Amazon.com]].

Can Two Towers Be This Good?

At this point, this is only a rumor, but it’s a really cool rumor.

This is from [[TheOneRing.net]]:

MovieDan82 claims that that one of the MPAA committee who watched a print of The Two Towers last week in order to give it a certification (it will be PG-13) says that not only is it better than Fellowship, but is “the best movie I have ever seen.”

I’ll let you know if there is any confirmation.

Jaguar Dot One

Apple already has an update ready to go that fixes quite a few problems in OSX 10.2

Apple Computer this week plans to release the first update to recently released Mac OS X 10.2, also known as Jaguar, sources said.

You just gotta love how Apple is staying on top of things these days.

Linux Worm Creating Problems

Hopefully this will get dealt with soon!

The Linux Slapper worm had compromised more than 6,700 servers as of early Monday morning, and it continues to create a peer-to-peer attack network that could shut down even corporate Internet connections.

This worm sounds like a cross between Gnutella and the orignal worm. It creates a peer-to-peer network from which it launches attacks. Yikes! the bad guys are getting more ingenius all the time!
